2009 Gnadenhutten Fireworks Festival Queen's Contest

This year's Queen contest had 4 contestants vying for the title of 2009 Gnadenhutten Fireworks Festival Queen.

The festivities were held on the stage at Heck's Grove Park at 7:30pm on July 2. Each contestant had to give a speech on "What the 4th of July Means To Me". They were judged on their speaking capabilities, appearance and poise. Each contestant also had to answer an impromptu question.

Hali Host, our 2008 Gnadenhutten Fireworks Festival Queen, helped crown the 2009 1st attendant Katie Cookson and the 2009 Queen Haley Bates. Both girls were presented with crystal crowns, sashes, crystal crown pins and trophies. Both girls also got to ride in this year's parade.

Once again, Mickey Bache was our emcee for the evening's festivities. The Gnadenhutten Fireworks Festival committee would like to thank Mickey for helping us with these contests for the past several years.

2009 Jr. Parade Marshal Contest

This year we had 4 boys and 4 girls try out for the Jr. Parade Marshal Contest. It's open to all boys & girls ages 4-8 who live in or attend school in the Indian Valley School district. Canisters are placed in area businesses and the boy and girl collecting the most money are crowned our Jr. Parade Marshals. The winning boy and girl receive a bicycle donated by Wal Mart of New Philadelphia, a crown, sash and get to ride in the parade.

This year's Jr. Parade Marshal winners were Heaven Dewey of Gnadenhutten and Tyler Beckley of Gnadenhutten.

Mickey Bache was emcee and 2008 Queen Hali Host helped crown the Jr. Parade Marshals and pass out the goody bags to all the contestants. All proceeds go towards the Fireworks Festival. We would like to thank all the contestants for helping to make sure that our festival can continue and grow.

2009 Cutest Baby Contest

For the past 4 years, we've held a Cutest Baby Contest to help raise money for our festival. The baby contestants are from ages newborn to 1 year and must reside in the Indian Valley School District. At the end of the contest, the baby with the most money collected in their canister is the winner and the baby with the second highest total is the runner up. The winning baby gets a $50 savings bond donated by Community Savings Bank in Gnadenhutten. Both babies also received a trophy, a sash, a red, white & blue stuffed teddy bear and get to ride in the parade. All baby contestants receive goody bags donated by area businesses.

This year's winner of the Cutest Baby Contest was Kayne Ellwood of Gnadenhutten and 1st Runner Up was Kryscena Woods of Midvale.
